Farouk Aliu Mahama donates GHC10K, Cow, and food items for Late Mion Lana’s final funeral rites

The former Member of Parliament for the Yendi Constituency, Hon. Dr Farouk Aliu Mahama, has extended a generous donation to support the final funeral rites of the late Mion Lana Abdulai Mahamadu, a revered traditional leader in Dagbon.

In a show of respect and solidarity with the royal family and the people of Dagbon, Hon. Dr Farouk contributed 10,000 in cash, a cow, and several essential food items to help with preparations for the upcoming funeral events.

The donation, presented on his behalf by a delegation led by the Yendi Constituency Chairman, included 10 bags of maize, 10 bags of rice, 5 gallons of cooking oil, 5 cartons of tin tomatoes, one bull, 300 bags of sachet water, and an additional GHC10,000 in cash.

The final rites of the late Mion Lana, which started on Friday, 23 May 2025, are expected to follow traditional Dagbon customs in the coming week as the community gathers to honour his memory and legacy.

“Mion Lana Abdulai was a towering figure in Dagbon. He was not only a peacemaker but also a wise mentor and a symbol of unity in our society,” Dr Farouk said in a statement. “This contribution is a small way of showing our gratitude and support during this solemn time.”

He concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of the late chief, saying, “May Allah grant eternal rest to our esteemed leader.”
