Former MP mobilizes support for Dr. Bawumia’s 2026 NPP Presidential bid

In a bid to galvanize support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2026 NPP Presidential primary, former Member of Parliament for Savelugu Constituency, Hon. Muhamed Abdul-Samed Gunu, met with former executives and the Council of Elders of the constituency.
The meeting, which aimed to solicit support for Dr. Bawumia’s presidential ambitions, saw Hon. Gunu highlighting the Vice President’s achievements over the past eight years. He emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s dedication, humility, and love for the party and Ghana, as well as his marketability and readiness for the presidency.
Hon. Gunu also drew on Dr. Bawumia’s experience as running mate and flagbearer of the party in the last three general elections, underscoring his capabilities and qualifications for the top office.
The former executives and Council of Elders appreciated Hon. Gunu’s call and expressed their willingness to support Dr. Bawumia’s vision. They also indicated their intention to present him for the 2028 election, suggesting a potential long-term strategy for the party’s success.
The meeting is seen as part of the NPP’s internal mobilization efforts ahead of the 2026 presidential primary. Dr. Bawumia’s team has been engaging with various stakeholders and party faithful to build support for his bid.
